Head Fleet Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY:

The Head, Fleet Maintenance is accountable for the effective and efficient operations of the public transport system, which must deliver business benefits to its customers. He/she is accountable for, and guides, the implementation of quality assurance policies and processes and monitors service performance standards throughout the Corporation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for demonstrating and upholding the Corporation’s values and developing and overseeing initiatives to embed same within the department.
  • Responsible for maintenance, repair and management of vehicle assets for the Corporation as required
  • Coordinates all activities (inclusive of Engineering; Mechanical; Quality; and Manpower) to ensure maximum Vehicle Availability to the Corporation.
  • Oversee the monitoring of service performance standards and resolve organisation service issues.
  • Oversee the development of quality assurance policies and processes
  • Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members
  • Support in the development and implementation of a Preventative and Maintenance Plan for all vehicles and related equipment owned by the Corporation
  • Develop criteria, application instructions, procedural manuals, and contracts for PTSC.
  • Oversee the conduct of reviews and investigations of road traffic accidents as well as other investigations such as employee-customer incidents.
  • Oversee reporting, regarding investigations and its impact on the Corporation’s and department’s KPIs around service quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide supervision where required for investigations of a technical nature with respect to the functioning/non-functioning of mechanical, electrical and other systems on vehicles.
  • Oversee the engineering function of the Corporation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Transport Management, Business Administration or similar field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration will be an asset
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of senior management experience in public transport, fleet management, or similar environment
  • Fleet Management background would be an asset
  • Project Management certification is desirable
  • Formal training in the automotive field will be an asset

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Knowledge of road traffic rules and regulations, transport principles and laws governing road and public transport in Trinidad and Tobago
  • Proven experience managing the implementation of new systems, processes and technology
  • Experience with IPTS will be an asset
  • Any other equivalent combination of training and experience within a fleet management environment will be strongly considered.

Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
