The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following PERMANENT position:
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the Corporation’s accounts. Work involves the maintenance of monthly income and expenditure accounts and the preparation of monthly balance sheets and related accounting reports. Receives general direction from a professional superior of work performed with some independence in accordance with established accounting procedures, practices and standards. (IFRS/IAS)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the maintenance of capital accounts and asset records.
- Supervises the areas of accounting operations i.e. Accounts Payable, Account Receivable control of budget appropriations, collection and maintenance of management accounting data.
- Investigates errors and determines proper corrections and prepares entries for making adjustments to same.
- Prepares statistical and accounting schedules and statements as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years’ experience in work of an accounting or auditing nature, including experience in a supervisory capacity.
- ACCA/CMA/CIMA, BSC in Accounting and Management, or equivalent qualifications.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledgeable of the Corporation’s accounting procedures and computerized accounting systems (SAGE).
- Working knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/IAS)
- Ability to prepare income statements and balance sheets.
- Knowledge of Peachtree and other accounting systems (SAGE).
- Skilled in the proper reporting and presentation of accounting and financial data.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately with figures and meet deadlines.
