Electrical Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Electrical Engineer is expected to work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team on projects focused on establishing an electrical infrastructure for the introduction of electric buses in PTSC and other projects requiring his/her competencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design of electrical systems including: power distribution systems, lighting, emergency power systems, low voltage/telecom infrastructure, and UPS design.
- Provide electrical design expertise on single and multi-disciplinary projects; taking lead on small to medium size engineering design projects and support larger projects.
- Design requirements include engineering calculations, construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, record drawings, material submittal reviews, construction inspection and development of construction programming documents.
- Perform field assessments, site investigations, inspections, facility condition assessment and sustainable infrastructure assessments
- Ensure that project work conforms to specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical requirements.
- Provide technical assistance on innovative and sustainable engineering design.
- Communicate effectively with all external and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise analysis and reporting.
- Review electrical designs and specifications prepared by external consultants
- Review shop drawings and as-built drawings
- Participate in design / constructability reviews, risk assessments, etc.
- Capture and communicate electrical design and engineering lessons learned for projects
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with low and medium voltage motors and MCC’s; low, medium and high voltage switchgear; maintenance of power systems and transformers; plant control, communication and automation systems; evaluating fitness for service and specifying of equipment; management of change.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position.
- Project Management Certification would be an asset.
- Exposure or working experience in electric vehicles repairs or maintenance will be an asset.
- Possession of a wireman’s license will be considered an asset.
- Experience in renewable energy with focus on solar photovoltaic systems will be considered an asset.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of engineering principles applied to equipment
- Familiarity with automotive systems.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
