SECURITY OFFICER – INVESTIGATOR- TWO (2) POSITIONS

JOB SUMMARY:

The Security Officer – Investigator supports the PTSC’s Security Department in ensuring the safety of employees, passengers, assets, depots, and fleet operations. The officer conducts investigations into incidents affecting the Corporation, provides detailed reporting, and assists in maintaining a secure transportation environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct investigations into incidents such as theft, vandalism, property damage, employee misconduct, passenger-related incidents, accidents, fuel discrepancies, and breaches of security across PTSC locations.
  • Gather, preserve, and catalogue evidence including statements, photographs, CCTV footage, and incident reports.
  • Interview employees, passengers, and witnesses as required.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports for submission to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
  • Recommend corrective and preventative measures based on investigative findings.
  • Conduct routine patrols at depots, terminals, workshops, offices, and fleet parking areas.
  • Monitor access control points to ensure only authorised personnel enter PTSC facilities.
  • Observe bus movements, dispatch areas, and fuelling points for compliance with security protocols.
  • Provide support during special operations, large public events, or high-traffic periods.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, collisions involving PTSC vehicles, and reports of disorderly conduct.
  • Assist in managing and de-escalating conflicts involving passengers or staff.
  • Support the safe handling of cash movement when required.
  • Ensure adherence to PTSC security policies, occupational safety regulations, and national laws.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, incident summaries, and evidence records.
  • Assist in preparing briefs for police or legal proceedings.
  • Liaise with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and other agencies during joint investigations or security operations.
  • Work with Operations, Human Resources, Maintenance, and Depot Management to resolve issues arising from investigations.
  • Provide guidance to Security Officers on proper incident reporting and evidence handling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BSc in Securities Administration or Certification from American Society for Industrial Security(ASIS)
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in security services, investigations, or law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of investigative interviewing and evidence handling.
  • Strong report-writing and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using CCTV systems and digital recording devices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, passengers, and external agencies.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Physically capable of performing patrols and responding to incidents.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Understanding of PTSC depot operations, bus movement, dispatch areas, fuelling points, and typical security risks.
  • Basic knowledge of the Summary Offences Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), relevant transport regulations, and laws governing security work.
  • Operation and retrieval of CCTV footage, digital surveillance tools, and security camera protocols.
  • Procedures for interviewing, taking statements, gathering evidence, maintaining chain of custody, and preparing investigation reports
  • Ability to assess incidents, evaluate information, and make sound conclusions based on evidence.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with staff, passengers, and external agencies such as TTPS.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple investigations, and meet reporting deadlines
