FACILITIES MANAGER

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following CONTRACT position:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager, Facilities Management supervises the Corporation’s facilities, plans, and schedules and manages maintenance and custodial work, and sees that safety measures are in place and adhered to. The position is also responsible for access management, as well as the design and execution of the security infrastructure and systems.

 

The position requires experience in facilities maintenance, security and asset management. As a leadership position, excellent project management, collaboration, communication, problem-solving skills and team building are also required. Knowledge of the transport industry would be an asset.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic, leadership and administrative responsibilities

  • Responsible for the execution and reporting of strategic initiatives as required
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of relevant environmental initiatives
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual capital budgets, financial projections, operating budgets, procurement plans and proposals
  • Make recommendations to departmental policies and procedures to meet organizational and programmatic goals
  • Responsible for demonstrating and upholding the organisation’s values and developing and overseeing initiatives to embed same within the department
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching of department staff and ensuring employee policies including career development are adhered to
  • Maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Responsible for demonstrating and upholding the organisation’s values and developing and overseeing initiatives to embed same within the department
  • Carry out other duties and assignments as advised by the head of department

 

Functional Responsibilities

Primarily supports real estate and facility management, including:

  • Work with the General Manager and/or his designate to develop policies and procedures regarding access management, janitorial and security service standards, as well as reporting requirements
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance schedule for all Corporation facilities
  • Assist in the development of proposals for remodelling to improve energy efficiency, and ensure that facilities comply with local laws, ordinances, regulations, and codes pertaining to the building industry
  • Direct and supervise scheduled, general facility repairs, as well as small construction/ improvement projects
  • Plan and coordinate the security and janitorial contracts, provides service quality assurance ensuring contracted works meet required standards
  • Monitor relevant budget accounts and expenditures
  • Coordinate emergency repairs for the Corporation’s facilities
  • Comply with departmental policies on reporting and investigating incidents, accidents, etc.
  • Comply with organisational policies on safety training, safety measures and maintaining safety records
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned from time-to-time

Supports the capital projects team, including:

  • Work with the capital projects team to review plans for security infrastructure for capital projects, ensuring alignment with department objectives and industry standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration
  • Certification in Facilities Management or other related area of study would be an asset
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) would be an asset

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Three to five years’ experience in commercial facilities management with progressive responsibility, preferably experience in the retail and hospitality, industrial or construction industries
  • Additional related experience may substitute for degree on a year for year basis up to four years
  • Knowledge of project management practices for managing cost, schedule, and quality
  • Ability to be a positive and constructive contributor in a team-based environment
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
